TWO LITTLE MONKEYS, OR ARUNDO DONAX VASCULAR BUNDLES
Arundo donax (Poaceae) is a giant reed, native to the Middle East and growing mostly in wetlands. The image shows a cross section of an outer part of the stem, displaying two vascular bundles typical of grasses. The monkey “eyes” are the xylem vessels, the “nose” is the phloem.
